The fate of HIV infected children: NEPAL
This morning I was going through a daily newspaper and was shocked to see this news entitled "School denies HIV-infected kids admission-Head teacher cites pressure from guardians, locals for decision". The case was of Pokhara where three HIV-infected children from Purandhara based Akura Care Village, have been denied admission in the Dhara Primary School. The children include 8-years old Manisha Adhikari, 10-years old Ghanashyam Bhusal, and 6-years old Eliza. Although the Supreme Court has issued an order asking the government to take action against such schools, and ensure HIV victims' access to education and health facilities, and YET no action has been taken.
Now the question is -what is the fate of those children or any other HIV-infected children in Nepal???Will they be denied of educational facilities just because they are HIV-infected??How long will the stigmatization prevail in the society??
People in this society are so ignorant and still hold conservative minds that it gets on my nerves. But HOW LONG??
Are we still staying quite, just reading such news in the newspapers, showing sympathy for a moment and then throw the newspaper in garbage the next day and involve yourself in stigmatizing others…No this attitude won't bring any change.. LET'S DO SOMETHING. If you can't do something good then don't do any bad as well..LET'S STOP STIGMATIZATION!! Let everyone get the basic facilities!! LET'S DO IT!!
